Colors of Kythera

Kythera, also known by the older Venetian name Tsirigo, is an island located in Southern Greece, in the south of the Peloponnese. Kythera does not include any city or town but only villages. The largest settlement is Potamos, while important villages are Agia Pelagia, Ano Livadi, Kalamos and Logothetianika. The capital is only the fourth largest settlement on the island. The name Kythera has a deep history and its roots. Homer mentions it in his epic work, the Iliad, while the goddess Aphrodite, the goddess of Love, identifies with the island and takes the name Kytheria.
